Peter Blackaby merges his professional skills as an Osteopath with his refined sensory awareness of the body’s ability to heal and renew itself through yoga.
‘My view has shifted over the years from a largely physical view of yoga to a view that encompasses the complex relationship between things, and the way perception influences everything. What do we make of the impressions that come in through our senses, and how do we respond to those impressions?
No person is an island. This is a truth that very few people would disagree with, it’s also true that there are no independent parts to our body, whether we go inwards or outwards we soon realise that everything is part of a series of relationships and systems. All our relationships are noticed via our sensory systems and responded to through our motor system. This retreat will explore how we regulate ourselves through sensation, interpretation and response’.
Peter has an international reputation as a respected teacher and teacher trainer. He has been studying yoga since 1978. He initially was a student of world-renowned teacher B K S Iyengar, completing his two-year teacher training after following that lineage for six years. In 2002 Peter started to run a teacher training programme for the British Wheel of Yoga.
Peter is also a qualified Osteopath; this skill base in body alignment and refinement gives him a unique combination of skills that are of great benefit to his students and the teachers he trains. He also teaches anatomy and physiology and gives welcomed tuition and insights that influence not only our bodies, but also our lives.
His interest in the last couple of decades has been to put a scientific underpinning to the practice of yoga, both in the biomechanical sense and within the mind/body relationship. Peter Blackaby’s transformative book ‘Intelligent Yoga’ has received high praise from yoga teachers and students around the world. This retreat is perfect for people with a regular yoga practice and for teachers looking to refine their understanding and skills in sharing the healing transformative power of yoga.
A time for rejuvenating asana practice, enlivening educational lectures and the space to feel the grace of living in balance.
