Yoga
Yoga has from ancient times encouraged purification; practising the asanas and pranayama are in themselves aids to purifying and cleansing the body and mind.
It is written in the Sutras of Patanjali (more than 2000 years ago) how the practise of ‘Shaucha’ or self- purification, the first Niyama, is a fundamental part of yoga practise.
It includes a number of techniques for cleansing the body as well as the mind, and has even been called the aim of the entire system of yoga.
The sages say that shaucha is not only the foundation for bodily health, it is also the doorway to deeper and more tranquil states of meditation.
Wendy Fraser is a regular and popular yoga teacher at Lendrick Lodge. Wendy teaches Asana practise in the Iyengar tradition, encouraging you to quieten the mind through focus on the breath and postures.
Wendy tailors the yoga classes to aid and encourage the detoxification process whilst also creating a beautiful yoga weekend.
